Our Mission
The Instructional Design Team (ID Team) in Course Development and Web Services (CDWS) contributes to the online initiative at the University of Central Florida (UCF) through three interrelated services for online faculty: relationship management, professional development, and action research. Through the systematic provision of these services, the ID Team assists CDWS attain its mission “to support teaching, learning, and research by being ‘all things Web’ to UCF and its partners, helping UCF achieve its strategic goals with advanced applications of instructional and information technology.”
What We Do
The Instructional Design Team facilitates the development and design of online courses through a combination of face-to-face interaction, just-in-time training and ongoing professional development. The Instructional Design Team’s award-winning faculty development course, IDL6543 (Interactive Distributed Learning), continuously improves through the commitment, research and integration of instructional best practices and emerging technology.

Ongoing Activities
- IDL6543 - This award-winning faculty development program was created to prepare faculty for teaching in the online environment. IDL6543 models how to teach online using a combination of seminars, labs, consultations, and Web based instruction.
- ADL5000 - A non-credit online course for faculty that models how to teach online. The purpose of this course is to help faculty succeed as they prepare to deliver an existing online course at UCF.
- Essentials - A self-paced faculty development workshop designed to ensure teaching faculty possess the foundational knowledge required to develop and deliver a Web enhanced course.
- Teaching Online – A Web-based resource for UCF faculty teaching online.
- Learning Online – A Web-based resource for UCF students taking courses online.
- Learning Online Orientation – A Web-based orientation for UCF students.
- Exemplary Course Project – A new CDWS project bringing online teaching practices to the forefront of the institution.
- Best Practices Research – Ongoing research tracking new technology, strategies and resources to maintain rigorous faculty and student satisfaction
